Here are the most-downloaded games worldwide from last month, according to Appmagic data.
There’s commentary below on which way the top twenty downloads are trending, and you can find January, February, March and April’s top downloads plus May’s top grossing mobile games through the links.
Subway Surfers is up by 2.5m installs month-on-month, and has settled into gathering around 20m+ installs per month after a huge spike back in May 2022 which saw the game hit 33m downloads in a month.
Roblox has maintained growth after a big jump in January. Where once it was averaging 13-16m downloads per month depending on school holidays, it has consistently pulled in over 17m installs per month since December, and is up fractionally on last month.
Candy Crush Saga’s big spike in January (21m installs) has levelled up its monthly install rate too. Its May total of 18m is a month-on-month rise of 2m after pulling in 16m downloads for three months running.
Ludo King’s consistent run continues with another 16m installs, 12m of which were from India, by far the game’s largest market.
India was the driver behind Car Driving School’s monster spike in May, too, having leapt up from a respectable 3m downloads in April to 13.9m in May. 9m of those downloads were from India, with Pakistan claiming 1.5m and Indonesia topping a million in May alone.
New Scopely hit Monopoly Go builds nicely on its April total of 8.9m installs with another 9.5m in May. Its top five markets by lifetime downloads to date are the US (7.4m), France (3.2m), UK (2.1m), Italy (2m) and Germany (2m).
Like Ludo King and Car Driving School, what were once called emerging markets are responsible for most of Block Blast Adventure Master’s 8.7m downloads last month. Brazil led the way with 2.2m installs in May, followed by India (2.1m), US (1m), Mexico (865k) and Indonesia (658k).
Royal Match’s relentless rise continues with a best-ever monthly total of 7.6m downloads in May. It beat its previous best from January this year by over a million installs.
Another hit from India, Dream11 Fantasy Sports, continues to somehow be listed in the games category, despite effectively being a betting app. May’s total of 12.6m is actually down a little on April’s all-time peak of 13m installs.
And guess what’s powering the return of Temple Run 2…? India again. It was averaging just over 3m installs per month for months and months, but recently caught fire in India, claiming 5.6m global downloads in March, 8.6m in April and 10m in May. India represents 7.2m of that global figure for May, with Pakistan a distant second on 782k.
May’s top mobile game downloads 11-20
11. Indian Bikes Driving 3D (Rohit Gaming Studio): 11.86m
12. My Talking Tom 2 (Outfit7): 11.84m
13. Gardenscapes (Playrix): 11.64m

May was the biggest month for Indian Bikes Driving installs to date with 11.86m, narrowly beating My Talking Tom 2, which passed 11m monthly downloads for first time since January 2022. The latter is another game boosted by recent interest in India, now its biggest market by installs; My Talking Tom Friends appears to be catching on there too.
Fingersoft’s Hill Climb Racing recorded its best monthly download figure since Appmagic started tracking data in January 2015 with 9.7m. Again, because of India.
It’s also worth mentioning the mixed fortunes of three stalwart hypercasual hits: While Bridge Race was up month-on-month by over a million downloads, Attack Hole was down a whopping 5m installs in May from an all-time high of 12.1m in April, and Going Balls was down month-on-month by around 1.5m downloads.
